Inaugural?

So, after much painful experimentation with PHP and CSS involving copious amounts of trial and error, I think I can officially call the new version of my site (www.rah-kun.net) “live.” It’s got a bunch of nifty things – an automated livejournal cross-poster that directs all-y’alls to my site to comment and stuff. There are also a number of pretty galleries of my artwork that will, hopefully, be filling up with strange and interesting things over the coming months.

The one thing that I haven’t had much luck with, yet, is geotagging. I’m pretty certain that it’s a simple process, but finding a comprehensive plugin has been quite a task. Not to mention, the whole concept of geotagging is a new one to me, so I’m not so down with the ins and outs, the jargon, or the overall workings of the system itself. What I do know is that, once I figure it out, I can do fun things involving pinning my pictures to google maps, posting maps to show you my routes and where I happen to be/will be/have been. It’s just a matter of working it all out.

So yeah, check it out, let me know what you think in my comments. And try not to break anything – I worked hard on this.

I love your color choices, as always. And I think your web site is laid out well: it’s easy to explore, and stuff is easy to find. I like how the images in your artwork section load (the thumbnails with the gray border are cool). Yay! I hope travel plans are going well; geotagging sounds interesting – I’ll have to look into it.

I sort of figured that you’d be the first person to comment up here. It’s a bit lonely, at the moment. Thanks for your compliments, much appreciated.

I think I just need to play with the geotagging hands-on to get the feel for how it works.

I like the new thing with the Google map shot at the top — I assume you’re going to change it based on where you are?

Yes – though with the short span of a few of my visits (a couple days in Chicago, 16 hours in Seoul), I might just have it on random shuffle of places I *have* been.
