After last night’s little adventure and considering the weather today (it’s been raining consistently since I woke up around 7:30), I haven’t really been keen on going out anywhere. I had a jolt of excitement for a short hour or two earlier where I put my headphones on and did [...]

RE: The Management

This is rough. I’m trapped in a foreign country where the only people who speak my language are either leaving in two weeks or… lascivious, philandering, lecherous, boozehounds. I woke up especially depressed this morning – here’s my story!
When I first arrived, as some may remember, my manager was completely [...]

Here is a small list of things I’ve been meaning to mention, or just thought to mention, in no particular order.

It’s a real shame that I don’t have a tripod. There’s a beautiful smog red half (or so) moon hanging out just over the buildings across the way. I’ve tried to take a number of pictures of it, but I, unfortunately, lack the muscle stillness to pull off a competent [...]

It’s a battle to keep my mood afloat right now (re: my last couple of posts). I hate to dwell on it, so I won’t, but suffice to say, living out of a bag since May has been quite grueling. Anyways, people know that I’m in a crummy mood, so [...]

The last thing I needed

Posted by Jayml on July 27, 2009 at 12:47 pm | Filled Under: China, Travelogue, Xiangfan| No comments

So that horrible mood I was in yesterday on account of feeling isolated, lonely, and bereft, as well as feeling quite like the dictionary definition of the term “jerked-around” has changed. It has, over the course of sleeping last night, metastasized into a full blown, inky, sticky depression.

I’m starting to get annoyed

[written at around 2 PM, July 26th]
I need a distraction.
Today’s another one of those days off. I actually did wake up later this morning, mostly on account of my stomach keeping me up periodically during the night. Anyways – I woke up to find my roommate’s girlfriend sitting in the apartment watching movies. Now, my [...]

Woo! A completely unforseen event just occured. The class I’m teaching today is the last of its series. I actually have to go to in in about half an hour. The kids are on break right now, and in the process of it, they descended on my office and proceeded to take numerous pictures of [...]

I’ve, so far, noticed two significant disturbances associated with when I first wake up in the morning – one being physical, and the other being psychological. They’re fairly consistent, too, in a manner of speaking…

Thoughts on Laundry, Teaching; Housing Update

Posted by Jayml on July 25, 2009 at 3:19 pm | Filled Under: China, Travelogue, Xiangfan| No comments

[Written at 11:44 PM, July 24th]
Tonight was an extreme laundry night. Due to a number of random happenings including late nights out eating or coming back completely shot from work, I haven’t really had the chance to do my laundry, so I was a bit overdue. This is especially important considering the amount of sweat [...]
